n a glamorous concoction of traditional
burlesque, seductive choreography and
signature style, Frankie Faux has gar-
nered a reputation for being Australia’s
fiercest burlesque artist.
As she enters the stage like a sleek and
merciless queen of the jungle, ‘The Jaguar of
Burlesque’ comes alive, transcending Frankie
into a personified feline frenzy. Her fans
describe her as ‘unforgivably fierce’ and com-
From the age of 16, Frankie knew she
wanted to do burlesque. Inspired by 1940s
photos, she thought “the concept of women
sensua lly dancing without a care was mind-
blowing and extremely inspiring.”
“The art of burlesque was so alluring for me
initially because as an audience member you
can really identify with the performer who is
quite exposed on so many levels and that sense
of sexual liberation is celebrated bet ween the
performer and the audience,” says Frankie.
During 2013, Frankie has won the title of
‘First Runner-Up Miss Burlesque Australia’ and
‘Most Likely To Take Over The World’ at The
Busties Awards. A s part of the biggest touring
festival in the world, The Busties Awards recog-
nise the best artists in the industry.
Frankie describes winning ‘First Runner-
Up Miss Burlesque Australia’ as a wild
experience and the “cherry on the top of the
big sparkly sundae.”
“The finals were in Melbourne and for one
of my acts I created a giant steel cage diamond,
which I drove all the way down from Sydney.
I put a lot of hard work in leading up to the
event in order to bring my best for the com-
petition and I definitely grew enormously as a
performer,” says Frankie.
Whether she’s admired for her chore-
ography, her cur ves, her charisma or her
numerous other qualities, Frankie thrives on
the support and inspiration that she draws
from her fans. Frankie continues to set high
standards for herself and she’s always looking
for the next big idea.
“I get a lot of beautiful messages from peo-
ple that love my work. Their messages really
inspire me and fuel my fire to keep working
hard at my career,” says Frankie.
From what started out as inspiration for a
choreography piece, has now become Frankie’s
signature style. ‘The Jaguar’ continues to flow
through her onstage persona, and will arrive
on the Gangsters’ Ball stage in September.
“Gangsters’ Ball is one of the most deca-
dent and high quality events, which brings
together the best entertainment from around
the globe. What the audience can expect from
me is an extravagant, glamorous and most
importantly ‘fierce’ show,” says Frankie.
Frankie wants to leave audiences mesmerised
and begging for more at the Gangsters’ Ball in
September. The Gangsters’ Ball tours Australia
and will be in Sydney on the 6th, Melbourne on
the 13th and Brisbane on the 20th.
“I have two acts I will be bringing to the
table that night. One is the routine that helped
me win my title at Miss Burlesque Australia,
‘The Panther’, a nd the second is a new routine
called ‘The Leopard’ where I am a jungle cat
dancing with giant pheasant feather fans. So
if you want to see ‘The Jaguar of Burlesque’ in
action, you know where to go.”
Fierce, ferocious and often feathered, Frankie Faux takes to the stage as
a black-haired feline ‘The Jaguar of Burlesque’.
