MELISSA ETHERIDGE, AND DIDO
In what was going to be a month of sharing great Melissa
Etheridge news including details of her new album, DVD and
very own sitcom, sadly Melissa has been diagnosed with breast
cancer. "I am fortunate to be under a wonderful doctor's care
and thankful that this was caught early. I am looking forward to
a quick and full recovery," said Etheridge. Due to the situation,
her upcoming tour dates have been cancelled while she
recuperates at home with her wife Tammy. Send Melissa your
message of support by logging on to melissaetheridge.com and

Only last week the Grammy Award winning singer had
confirmed she is going to star in a sitcom to be launched in 2005.
It centres on a gay woman (Melissa), a music teacher who lives
with her best friend, a straight man. The two are raising the
daughter of another friend. In real life, Melissa and her former
partner Julie Cypher are the parents of two children fathered by
singer David Crosby. The show is being described as a comedy
about a non-traditional family. Like Will & Grace in reverse, the
gay Melissa character will live with a straight man.
For fans of Melissa Etheridge's music the great news is that
she is about to release her first ever live album, Lucky Live. The
package is a two disc set featuring both a CD and DVD.
"Being able to share the experience of performing live with my
band over the last months through this DVD and CD is very
close to my heart. It's the next best thing to being there," she
said. The DVD will also feature a 44-minute "A Day In The
Life" documentary and a never seen before inter view.
Happy birthday Homebake! On December 4 Sydney's
Domain celebrates 10 years of Homebake. This year's festival
lineup features some strong female Aussie talent including Missy
Higgins, Sarah Blasko, The Spazzys and Kasey Chambers.
Tickets are on sale now.
It's been three years since she visited but Dido will be back
in Australia this month and tickets are available for the following
concerts: November 8th Brisbane Entertainment Centre, 10th
Sydney Entertainment Centre, 13th Melbourne, Rod Laver
Arena, 15th Adelaide Entertainment Centre.
Girls, I'm sounding the Dikes on Mikes siren right now
because this is your last chance to have a crack at becoming
Australia's Lesbian Idol. With the last heat on November 26 I
am urging anyone who has been considering entering to give it
a go -- this really is your last chance. There is nothing to lose, at
the least you will have done something brave that you wouldn't
normally do in a room of supportive women who are there to
have a good time and cheer you on. Perhaps if I remind you of
the prizes this might just get your musical juices flowing? The
winner of Lesbian Idol receives an offer of contract with
GoGirlfriend Enterprises to record track/s for a Lesbian Idol
CD, a promotional trip to the US to promote Lesbian Idol in
March 2005 and will sing the opening song at the 2005 Mardi
Gras Launch Party. Log on to dikesonmikes.com.au for further
info, and I hope to see you on the 26th.
