Thank You LOTL
We won a double pass to the 2013 Israeli Film
Festival. We went to see Inch’Allah (this is
Arabic for ‘God willing hopefully’). The film is
seen through the eyes of three women, showing
Canadian, Palestinian and Israeli experiences.
The cast and acting was excellent. Sabrina
Ouazani, who portrayed Palestinian woman
Rand, showed great depth in her performance.
The lead character Chloe (Evelyne Brochu)
is a young Canadian obstetrician, curious to
understand life in a Palestinian refugee camp,
and feels compelled to respond to what is hap-
pening. Anyone wanting to know more about
the lives of people in Palestine and the painful
intersection with Israel should definitely watch
this movie. It is one of the best films we have

I was very impressed with the pro-feminist and
political articles in your August issue. The ar-
ticle condemning the director of the film Gods
of Carnage was particularly brave. The rights of
women will not improve if we do not stand up,
against the behaviours of people like Polanski
and say rape is not acceptable. It is so nice to see
articles that actually strengthen women rather
than oppress them into feeling that they are
powerless and are not thin enough.

I was researching various gender courses in
Australia in the hope of finding a masters
course. To my disappointment a course had
recently closed. I was sitting in a café and
picked up the latest issue of LOTL. There was
a small announcement about the International
Women’s University stating they were open for
submissions. I was not only accepted into the
course but granted a financial scholarship from
the DAAD (German academic exchange pro-
gram) of which I am now an official mentor for
Australian artists. I owe a lot to your fabulous
publication and I’ve never stopped reading it.

On Tully from Big Brother and her relationship
She is letting us down. It is her girlfriend I feel for. She is the one with the
trust. In the end we have to answer for our actions.
Lesbian, bi or straight, it doesn’t matter! She is outright cheating on her
partner yet delusional enough to think her behaviour isn’t crossing a line and
that her girlfriend will be waiting for her when she gets out. Fool!
Am I the only one who when Tully told Drew she loves him after 2 weeks
thought, “2 weeks, yep, she’s a lesbian”
On “Was Marriage Equality going to be a deciding
factor on election day?”
I truly believe that there are more pressing issues right now.
Like refugees and their treatment.
Big part of it for me.
