MAIN PHOTO VEGAS AT NIGHT, AND FAR LEFT GINA GERSHON AND ELIZABETH BERKLEY FROM THE LESBIAN CULT FILM, SHOWGIRLS
jokes are. The tiny stage has some stunning lighting going
down and if you want a laugh and a drink, here you can feel
as though you're part of it all.
When you're ready for some good music and a more
sophisticated location, Baby's is the coolest place in town and
this is where you can leave tack behind (if you're cool enough
to get in). It's the kind of place where velvet ropes keep out the
riff-raff and you have to look as good as Naomi Watts or Liz
Hurley to even get a glance. Drinks? Think price on application.
If you're not cool enough for Baby's or you can't be assed
doing the VIP thing, Cleopatra's Barge Nightclub is a cosy, dark,
unique nightclub on a floating barge where you can actually feel
the place rocking! There's a bandstand and a few tables on the
barge, while others are set around the boat on "land". This is a
place where you can fit some Vegas style romanticism in. Book
ahead. When the night is almost over, Sky Lounge has incredible
views so you can get that 'We're really in Vegas' kinda feeling
while sipping on a nightcap (or a breakfast bloody Mary if you're
just heading out). The décor can is a little overdone (purple and
black, very try-hard modern) but here you can get away from
the mayhem of downtown. A jazz vocal/piano act performs at
night and the atmosphere produced is classic Vegas with only a
hint of that unavoidable kitsch.
Things won't slow down, and they certainly won't
quieten down if you find yourself with a big hangover, so
the best option is to head out and party for all you're worth
and deal with the consequences when you've left sin city on
the horizon. Did someone say gambling? Strip clubs? Seedy
bars and discos? Garish wedding chapels? You won't have
any trouble finding them -- they'll find you.
