The A-List of the L-List High profile celesbians make a splash
this month. By Jocelyn Voo
Before parenting, there was Playboy
- and Playmate-turned-mum Jenny
McCarthy dishes all about her former
life, including lesbian orgies, in her new
memoir. The host of Surprise opens up about
one night in particular, where she a nd her fel-
low playmates engaged in an ecstasy and
Vicodin-fueled night of sex.
“ It was incredibly intense,” she says of
the drugs, “so much so that we all began to
express love for one another by making out
with each other.”
While we applaud the fact that the mum
of one now spends more time de voted to
autism activism and environmental causes
than pill-pushing, let us reflect for a moment
on the fact that blonde bombshell McCarthy
once humped with Bunnies.
I Ain’t Sayin’ She’s a Gold Digger
Ladies, get your handkerchiefs out: k.d . lang
and Jamie Price—her wife of two years—
have ended their domestic partnership.
According to TMZ, the Grammy-studded
singer filed paperwork earlier this year,
and both lang and Price waived the right
to support, meaning that both women
have agreed to leave with the financial
assets she originally
brought into the rela-
Price ain’t no gold digger.
The 1 Percent
Jasika Nicole wants to talk role-playi ng.
(No, n ot that role-playing.) The Fri nge ac -
tor, who’s Los Angeles-bound with her part-
ner after the show ends, is the mi nority in
Hollywood , being both African-American
and an out lesbian. And though her talent
shows through, Nicole admits it’s not an
even keel when it comes to casting.
Speaking on how most on-screen roles
call for white female characters unless ex-
plicitly stated otherwise, she notes, “ I think
that is a misconception that to go in a differ-
ent direction you have to rewrite your char-
acter...Everybody’s still looking for love.
Everybody’s still trying to find their way in
the world. Those things are human qualities,
not necessarily race-specific qualities. And
they’re certainly not gender-specific qualities
or sexuality quality either.
“ It’s so complicated because I ’d love to
play a queer woman on a television show
but that’s only because I think we need to
see more queer women on television, not be -
cause it’s the only thing I can play, certainly,”
Art Imitating Life
Wanda Sykes, Ellen DeGeneres, Beyoncé -
we all have our celeb role models. And then
there’s Lindsay Lohan who - surprise - turns
out to actually be the inspiration for L Wo r d
character Niki Stevens. Kate French revealed
on Twitter that her character was in fact in-
fluenced by director Angela Robinson’s time
spent with the redheaded actress (pre-down-
ward spiral, of course). Which, as Afte rEllen
points out, brings up the question: Is Jenny
Schecter supposed to be Sam Ronson?
Best New Movie of the Year
It was only a matter of time. Satire king
Sacha Baron Cohen, of Borat and Brüno
fame, is now embarking on a new cinemat-
ic project, tentatively titled The Lesbian.
Based on the real story of Hong Kong bil-
lionaire Cecil Chao’s multi-million dollar
offer for any man who manages to woo his
lesbian daughter into marriage, the film
positions Cohen as both producer and lead
actor (of course). Us? We’ll be the first in
line at the theatre.
Was this TV couple inspired by Lindsay and Sam?
