Dear Ladywood and Domestic Duchess,
I’m a 19-year-old girly lesbian and I’ve met
a really interesting older woman. We have
amazing chemistry and have kissed a couple
of times. I can’t wait to go further sexually,
although I haven’t had a lot of experience. This
amazing woman told me that she is a ‘stone
butch’. I can see she’s quite butch but what on
earth is a stone butch? Curious, Sarah.
Dear Sarah – a .k .a . Baby Dyke,
LW: You sound really sweet and this new lad-y
does sound interesting. A ‘stone butch’ has nothing
to do with her being a pothead (unless she said
‘stoned butch’, had blo odshot eyes and was eating a
bag of Cheezels, then that’s another issue!).
DD : A stone butch is usually strongly
masculine and does not want to be touched
sexually. They get complete satisfaction from
giving to their partner sexually and do not want
anything in return.
LW: All you have to do is board the Stone
Express – no return ticket required. Just keep in
mind that stone butches like to top sexually and
DD : She doesn’t want you to return the
favour, but may want you to co ok dinner and iron
her flanny shirts for her!
DD : The stone butch does all the sexual giving
and her partner (sometimes called a ‘pillow
queen’) does all the receiving. There are all
sorts of sexual arrangements within the lesbian
community, just like the stra ight world. I think
as long as you are aware of what will probably
happen, or won’t happen, with your new woman,
Sarah, you should be fine. Life is all about
LW: The big thing is communication, as always.
At least she told you beforehand. Imagine being
in the sack with her and you were wondering why
she wouldn’t let you touch her. You might feel
strange or wonder what’s
wrong. It might feel a bit
like a one-way street. You
are young enough to try all
sorts of things but don’t do
anything that doesn’t feel
LW: And remember, sexual ly, things can always
change and it’s not always written in stone !
Dear Ladywood and Domestic Duchess,
I want to get retro and do up something
vintage, like maybe a car or caravan. They
seem to be the latest trend and I have seen
so many possibilities online. I have never done
anything like this before. What should I look
out for? Betty Boo
DD: Well, LW, I think you can take the wheel
on this one ! If you’re up for it.
LW: B-Boo, where do I begin? Have you got
any me chanical skills, building knowledge or a
willingness to learn how to maintain your vintage
treasure once you have g ot it looking great?
DD: I think we should start by explaining
what’s in our ladyshed. We have two 1950’s
vintage vans and a 1962 Morris ute. Both could
have left us broke but we cer tainly saved ourselves
thousands by doing a bit of DIY.
LW: Yes. And thorough searching for the right
ones first. (Bit like a good woman). A few tips to
start would be solid bones - a strong chassis and
framework. A small amount of rust is ok, and
usually there is in something 50 years old, but if
it’s rotted through, leave it be.
Next, look at how much work nee ds to be
done. How much of this work can you do, and
how much do you nee d to spend on me chanics,
ele ctrics, carp entry, etc.
DD: Yes, a bit like when you picked up the
Morris, LW. It came in pieces and thre e car tons
of leftovers from an old man 700kms away! May
nee d to mention, look before you buy. There are
a lot of liars out there and you nee d to see your
piece before you outlay any money.
LW: At least the paintwork was done ! And
we saved lots by doing the tray ourselves.
Registration can be difficult due to on-going
law changes, so ask around for tips on engine er ’s
certificates and roadworthy requirements. If you
find a registered vehicle, ne ver, never let it expire.
You will be up for hundreds to re-register it to the
DD: There are so many businesses on the
internet that sell all kinds of thing s for retro
vehicles. It is an amazing world, and once you hit
it, you will scream ‘retro!’ at any opportunity.
LW: It truly depends on your budget, and if
you want to do it up, or buy something already
finished. We bought our first van finished and
our se cond one in need of a major reno. But
we know our capabilities and look for ward to
playing around any moment we can.
DD: I hope you’re still talking just about the
retro van, LW!
