organisation Doggie R escue, has saved 10,000 dog s

“ This has been an outstanding effor t by a team
of dedicated volunteers to saving Sydne y’s lost, un-
loved and abandone d dog s from our overcrowded
pounds”, said CEO and founder of Doggie Rescue,
Ms. Biernacki, a former scientist, gave up her work
fifteen years ago to begin Doggie Rescue when she
saw a desperate ne ed to prevent the unnecessar y eu-
thanasia of dog s that were perfectly healthy yet had
been abandoned and didn’t have time to wait for a
family to find them. She has provided incre dible
drive and hard work, often working 12 hours a day,
seven days a week.
“It has been my intention to provide a viable NO
KILL alternative in Sydne y and to educate the pub -
lic on their resp onsibilities when owning a dog ”, en-
thused Ms. Biernacki. “Dog s are a lifelong commit-
ment, and people need to be come educated about
where their new addition has come from, and to
consider a rescue dog . There are so many dog s look-
ing for a second chance.”
The lucky 10,000th saved life is a puppy, formally
known as ‘Pinky’, now called Harley and happily set-
tled into a Northern Beaches’ family. Pinky is one of
so many homeless puppies that highlight the acute
ne ed for desexing .
While Pinky has now found a forever home, there
are many more dog s at Doggie R escue looking for
homes - of so many different ag es, sizes, personali-
ties and bre eds. For more info on how you can help

Four ways to help Doggie Rescue
Adopt a dog
All dog s are health checked, desexed, micro -chipped
and vaccinated. When you adopt a dog you are in
effect saving two lives by making a space for doggie
rescue to rescue another one !
Foster a dog
Doggie Rescue has recently lost its animal shelter
and have struggled to find suitable replacement
premises. In the meantime they are totally reliant on
foster carers to offer their rescue dog s a temporar y
home. Often this is only for a few weeks, or months.
If you are not currently able to commit to adopting
a p et please consider fostering a doggie – it’s an in-
cre dibly rewarding experience and you could make a
hug e difference ! Without foster homes, Doggie Res-
cue are in the terrible predicament of being forced to
drive away, leaving dog s behind to die on death row.
