heating up. While we've been used
to Santana and Brittany's sweet lady
kisses and vague references to their
lesbian-esque friendship, the show
has moved for ward by dropping
a big lesbian bomb in a recent
What starts with Santana's
attempt at seduction by suggesting
to Brittany, "Hey, Britt-Britt, how
about you and I popping in some
Sweet Valley High this evening and
get our cuddle on?" ends with a
poignant and sensitive portrayal of
Santana and Brittany's confrontation
of their feelings for each other -- and
girls in general.
Guest star Gwenyth Paltrow,
playing substitute teacher Holly
Holiday, asks if the girls think
they may be gay. Santana responds,
"I'm attracted to girls and I'm
attracted to guys. I made out with a
mannequin. I even had a sex dream
about a shrub that was just in the
shape of a person."
Santana's inability to articulate
her feelings leads us to her
confession of love for Brittany by
singing Stevie Nicks' 'Landslide'
with Gwennie on guitar. We won't
say too much more, but kudos to
Glee for presenting a storyline that
is complex, poignant, and accurately
depicts the confusion of same-sex
In a recent inter view with Out.
com, Heather Morris (Brittany)
spoke of the relationship between
Brittany and Santana, saying, "We
just shot a scene yesterday that I'm
excited for the fans to see," she says.
"People don't want their relationship
tobe ajoke. eywantit tobe real.It
had an impact on people."
Rachel Berry (Lea Michelle)
praised Santana and Brittany for
exploring "the world of Sapphic
charm. Bravo," she says, "bravo."
