Before Paris came along to tarnish
the moniker, the Hilton name was
synonymous with good taste and
quality. In the seventies and eighties it was
the prestige hotel of the city, rivalled only by
the Sebel for the patronage of rock singers
and movie stars. While the hotel's infamous
Marble Bar played host to many a night of
drunken debauchery, over the years the glitz
began to fade off the old girl and the Hilton
began to lose its lustre. In 2005, the hotel was
given a much needed facelift with a complete
refurbishment by Leighton Contractors
that included a new portico allowing drive-
through access between Pitt and George St,
new Ballroom, fabulous conference areas,
one of the best bars in the city (the Glass Bar)
and of course all of the rooms were given a
makeover. The result is a hotel whose name is
now synonymous with comfort and luxury.
Everyone should treat themselves to a stay
in a luxury hotel at least once and the Hilton
has come up with some new packages that will
lighten the hearts of the love struck and the
lovelorn and offer a weekend of indulgence
that will be remembered forever.
While other establishments ser ve up your
standard champagne and chocolates fare, the
Hilton takes the notion of romance to the nth
degree offering up ser vices such as temperature
controlled drawn baths with your choice of
essential oils and strewn petals, music selected
to suit your mood and champagne and
chocolates for the occasion.
The Breakup ser ves up a package of
indulgence to get you back on track after a
relationship crash and burn. Best experienced
with a girlfriend, the package includes 24
hour access to the latest movies, with pop
corn and ice cream to indulge in and a kilo of
Belgian chocolate to help assuage your sorrow.
Breakfast in bed completes the package and
you can even have a visit from the hotel's
resident jeweller who can melt down that
pesky engagement ring and turn it into a
funky new piece of jewellery.
e Proposal delivers the perfect antidote for
the budding bride or groom that has wracked their
brain for an original way to pop the question...
e package includes a private dinner for two
designed by celebrity chef, Luke Mangan, a sweet
Veuve Clicquot champagne bath ser vice and an
$850 experience splurge with Red Balloon Days.
Finally, and in anticipation of the inevitable
relationship faux pas during 2010, e Apolog y
aims to resolve the most ardent of wronged hearts
and provide that much needed guilt anecdote.
ink chau eured transfers, champagne picnics
and luxury spa treatments -- this is the way to say
sorry in style.
