Adelaide International Guitar Festival
From November 25-28 the world's best guitarists will converge on Adelaide for the International Guitar Festival.
Artistic director Slava Grigoryan (a world renowned guitarist) has assembled a high calibre range of world-
class artists crossing a broad range of genres including world music, roots, classical, Brazilian, amenco,
contemporary and more.
Over the four days and nights, the Adelaide International Guitar Festival will feature more than 50 national and
international artists in 16 performances and three Australian premieres, along with a range of free and low cost
workshops, master classes, artist talks and panel discussions, with a range of cultural cuisine and a selection
of ne South Australian wine and beverages accompanying the music.

Bette Midler has long been a favourite with the LGBT
community -- after all she got her start singing in our bath
houses... So it's no surprise that one of our performers
has decided to put together a cabaret based around her
work -- what is surprising, is that it ain't someone in drag,

vocally with Steve Ostrow who discovered Bette and gave
her her start at The Contintenal Baths in NYC in the '70s.

An evening of song
Two of Sydney's most acclaimed, barrier-breaking
community choirs have chosen mental illness as the
topic for a unique collaborative concert, coinciding
with Mental Health Month. Choral Therapy: An
Evening on the Couch with Sydney Gay & Lesbian
Choir and The Spooky Men's Chorale will be
presented for one night only, Saturday October 30, at
Marrickville Town Hall.
The concert aims to engage with the public on
many levels including raising awareness of mental
illness and how it can affect people from every walk
of life. Above all, it will be an entertaining evening
of beautiful, moving, unusual and sometimes funny
music. One third of net profits from ticket sales will
be donated to The Black Dog Institute, a not-for-profit
facility offering specialist expertise in depression
and bipolar disorders.

Shaping Inspiration is an exhibition of drawings,
paintings, prints, sculptures and textiles from 32
artists from the Lennox Street Studios including
lesbian artist April White, taking place on the
weekend of Friday 5th, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th
November 2010 from 10am-4pm daily at the Lennox
Street Studios, 111 Lennox Street, Newtown.
April White has exhibited internationally including
exhibitions in Canada as well as Australia. She
creates abstract landscapes and miniature jewel-like
paintings of birds as she comments, "I observe how
birds occupy the world -- in an existence which is
both fragile and strong... not unlike humans. These
are precarious lives as the world changes, beautiful
creatures looking around the world for a safe place
