Reclaim the Night
Reclaim the Night is a rally-style event run annually
to raise awareness of issues of violence against
women (both sexual and non-sexual) in our society. It
is organised by a voluntary collective of women from
within the community. The conceptual basis for the
event is an act of female solidarity and reclamation
of public spaces in the face of widespread violence
and threats of violence, which for many women are
experienced on a regular basis.
This year's event will be held on Friday October
29 commencing with a march from Town Hall at
6pm and concluding at Martin Place, where musical
performers and stalls will add to the nal festivities.
