Breast Cancer Feature
The Pink Lady Art Exhibition
in Melbourne's Bayside is an event that
embraces and celebrates the visual arts
and community spirit, bringing together
artists, volunteers, families and local business
united in making a di erence. e aim:
to make breast cancer history for future
is beautifully curated exhibition
for emerging, mid career and established
artists raises funds and awareness for
Breast Cancer Network Australia (bcna.
org.au) and e National Breast Cancer
Foundation (nbcf.org.au). Almost
everything that makes the event happen
is donated; everyone associated with
the event is a volunteer; and every cent
raised, is donated to the two charities.
ere is a huge team of sel ess volunteers
involved in the event including the organising
committee Lisa Sewards, Michelle Adams and
Emma Callil, local Bayside women united by
friendship, their love for visual arts and two of
them are breast cancer sur vivors.
2010 will mark the event's fourth year
anniversary and to date the organisation has
raised over $92,000 for the charities.
e Pink Lady Art event is gaining an excellent
reputation in the arts world with a slew of
fabulous prizes on o er to artists entering their
works, including the Emerging Artist Award
which enjoys a prize that includes a two week
exhibition at Suburban 312 Gallery and $1000
cash. e ceremony takes place on the Sunday
of the event at 1pm, with Julie Cotter from Arts
Victoria presenting the awards and prizes.
Over 100 artists will have artworks for
sale and included in this group show
of painters, printmakers, sculptors,
and photographers, are Australian
Printmaker Debra Luccio, Archibald
entrant Jacquie Grantford and Cheryl
Petterson.... e list goes on and each of
the exhibiting artists generously donates
proceeds from each artwork sold.
Other event highlights include an
outdoor café, food, wine, a huge ra e,
or you can have your caricature drawn, or
watch the artists at work ! Children can
do some cra or play some bocce. Patrons
can also enjoy Re exology (free for breast
cancer sur vivors) or have Angel Cards read
-- positive messages for all!

art series wines, and help contribute towards
making breast cancer history for our future
