Aurora Jane's Jane Hole has been described as 'the
secret lovechild of Jimi Hendrix & Ani Di Franco.'
Jane comments, "It's a great compliment, and I aspire
to live up to it! On the new album I've drawn in u-
ence from Ani's amazing song-writing and attempted
to splice it with Jimi's ability to become one with the
music and let the inspiration ow uncensored from
his ngers." In accordance with this, Jane's music has
gone through a major transformation in the past few
years. "My new material is very much in the rock vein,
with retro-funk overtones."
Marking the beginning of a new era, Jane says
that "Deep End is the album I have dreamed of cre-
ating for years. Sonically it has a very optimistic and
funky vibe, with detailed arrangements and lyrics
that are very close to my heart, yet comic at the same
time... ultimately, I'd like to think Deep End explores
the comedy and tragedy of human existence in the
21st century, and the interconnectedness between
all things. e tracks have been written everywhere
from the Australian desert to a Mumbai taxi to a Ger-
man boarding school! I am so happy to be back on
the electric guitar, ripping out solos and playing juicy
Aurora Jane have a huge fan base in India a er
headlining in the famous Roots Festival in both 2006
& 2007. "It is the only country in the world where we
have played to audiences of 20,000 people."
Jane has returned to live in Melbourne a er four
years of non-stop touring, bringing the live show with
the full band to us this month.

LIZ STRINGER --
TIDES OF TIME
Liz is one of Melbourne's
most talented and
songwriters and one of
my all time favourites. This is Liz's third album, and she
shows her impeccable musical ability and versatility by
laying down all the instrumental on this album herself.
Now that is talent! Her vocals are rich, deep and smooth
with the ability to submerge the listener into the depths
of her lyrics. Her songs are deep, dark and delightful, set
in a blues/folk genre. Calming and captivating!
MONIQUE BRUMBY --
This is Monique's long
studio album and it
was worth the wait.
Monique uses a variety of genres to share her
stores, with some great groove from ballads to
pop/rock tracks to the rollicking rockabilly/pop/
rock treat and first single 'They're Still Alive'.
Monique's vocals are sultry, sweet, seductive
and sexy. The more you listen to this album the
more addictive it becomes.
THE LUCKY WONDERS --
We've been hearing
about Byron Bay girls
Jessie Vintila and
Lucky Wonders', and now here they are with the
release of their debut album. Together with ear-
pleasing vocals and harmonies set to roots/soft
pop music. The album is made up like chapters
in a book, about the 'hard times and the journey
towards happiness,' giving you the feel that
everything will be alright in the long run.
Jen is embarking on an intimate double-bill solo
tour, teaming up with Jordie Lane. Jen's last album
Hidden Hands was my personal favourite release of
2009. Along with our favourites, Jen will be perform-
ing some new songs and others that she doesn't nor-
mally play with her band. It will also be collaborative,
including a joint set with Jordie. Jen is currently writ-
ing for her new album, due to be recorded next year.
Jen says, "It's feeling very di erent to the last album
both stylistically and lyrically. I'm also o to visit Mia
Dyson in the States this June which should be fun!"
