wants me to

How does a girl get your attention?
Honestly, I’m oblivious. I only pay attention to the
people I know. If a girl wants me to notice, she
better introduce herself to me.
Your dragon tattoo on your head is hot, do
you have any others? And did they affect your
work as a model?
I have two other tattoos. One on my ankle and on
my hip bone. They all brought me work, if anything!
The network for the Tyra Banks Show doesn’t
allow for tattoos to show. So it was the first time
they covered a tattoo of mine (the ankle).
Your work would have taken you to some
amazing destinations. What’s your favourite
place in the world?
I have two favorite places. The first is Australia.
And no, I’m not saying that to suck up either. I truly
love Australia. I also love Rome, Italy.
What do you get from DJing that you didn’t
get from modelling?
The opportunity to do something with my hands!
Also, some pretty crazy experiences with drunk
people. Female DJs are still a bit of a novelty and
people can be shameless.
How do you read a dance floor and know
what direction to take everyone?
I don’t think it’s a conscious decision as much as
just going with the vibe and the mood.
Who do you let hang in the booth when you’re
on, or is it no access for anyone?
I love throwing “DJ Booth Parties”! But I must warn
you, I am the worst host ever! My concentration is
strictly on the turntables.
Do you have a signature sound on the
I actually do play the top 40 hits but NYC style
(Hip Hop and Rock with a bit of Sinclar). I also play
a lot of 80s. My favorite thing right now is doing
Mash Up live.
What happened to your band 10 watt Mary?
Are you in any other bands at the moment?
10 watt Mary = Irreconcilable Differences. Although
we remained friends, we never performed together
again. I went solo after that. I’m actually about to
begin recording in the next few months.
If you could put together your ultimate band
who would you pick to be in it?
Honestly, I’ve made a career wearing other
people’s clothes, walking other people’s runways.
I want to do something for myself. I want to play
all the instruments and be the main vocalist. I want
the spotlight on Eve Salvail (laughs).
That spotlight is only going to get bigger and
brighter for Eve who has set her sights on
combining her two passions – DJing and writing.
However, she says she’s in no rush and plans
to enjoy it ‘one beat at a time’. To find out more
about Eve check out her website evesalvail.com
