GUS & WALDO’S BOOK OF LOVE
Massimo Fenati $19.95
Children and adults alike will love this adorable little book
wherein two penguins express their same-sex love, and
declare they are just doing exactly what Mother Nature
intended. Beautiful cartoons, a great message, and clever
humour. Selling like hotcakes I believe!
OUT OF THE BLUE
Kimina Lyall $29.95
Journalist Kimina Lyall was Southeast Asia correspondent
for the Australian newspaper, and this amazing book is the
story of her survival from the Boxing Day 2004 tsunami. She
and her partner were living in Thailand, enjoying exploring the
idyllic beaches. After a sexual assault trauma the two women
took refuge at Golden Buddha Beach on the west coast.
With many others they misunderstood the warning signs of
the giant wave, and their survival was a life-changing miracle.
Another powerful memoir from an excellent writer, and she
tells many stories of loss and survival.
13 WAYS OF LOOKING AT THE NOVEL
Jane Smiley $45
A wonderful writer discusses the pleasures of reading, looks
at the process of novel writing, and gives some invaluable
practical advice to would-be writers. She also describes
her 100 top favourite novels. If you are in a reading group,
(and who isn’t these days?) this book would be a fantastic
reference book. Keen writers and readers both would love
this big fat book. One to read if you have a novel you’d like
to get published.
THE FAMILY BOOK
Todd Parr $14.95
Absolutely gorgeous children’s picture book showing families
with many differences, including families with two mums and
two dads. Easy to read and just the best bright illustrations.
Wait for the outrage when this gets onto Play School!
STORMS OF CHANGE
Bold Strokes Books
Our old friends, Provincetown couple Reese Conlon and Tory
King, are in turmoil as war in the Middle East affects their
families, and Reese faces the possibility of overseas service.
In the midst of this strife Richarda Grechi, a glam art gallery
owner, blows into town, and her underworld connections
make her a dangerous friend. An entertaining romance for
holiday reading, with good hot sex on every third page!
