B!tch kicks off the silly season with a series
of waterfront parties called Summer Salt at
iconic locations around Sydney. Help them
celebrate Australia Day in style as they take over
Cruise Bar at Sydney Harbour.
B!tch promoter, Renee Schembri, had everyone's
safety in mind when she planned the party location.
"We had locked in Bondi Beach, but after looking at
the statistics of the crowds drawn there on this day,
and talking to the girls, we decided to move it to the
Adds Schembri, "Cruise Bar is one of the spunki-
est venues on the harbour! It's totally secluded with a
private entrance on level three, where we are running
our parties so it's our own little section right above it
all." Rest assured there will be no riff raff here...
Schembri believes the boys have been lording it
over the harbour city for too long -- now it's the girl's
turn. "The boys have some amazing events at Opera
Bar and various locations, but the girls don't seem to
feel as welcome. It's time to mix it up -- we want girls
to feel welcome, but this party is open to everyone, boys, girls and their
guests -- just like Get Together, the party we co-produce with Fag Tag, and
After Dark with Love Gaze - these parties showed there are a great bunch of
house music party lovers out there that want to play together, so this series
of events at Cruise Bar is all about that!"
Schembri believes it is the "high level of live entertainment, and of
course the broad demographic of gorgeous girls who keep supporting us,"
that makes B!tch events stand out from the crowd. "The mixture of live ele-
ments with rocking DJ sets, and the funky fresh music policy really works."
She also recognises that not all of us want to spend our night in a mosh pit
inside a club, "so we listened to that and created various
spaces, parties and entertainment genres to suit." Hence
Summer Salt was born.
The Australia Day party marks the first time B!tch has
turned their hand to a day party. According to Schembri,
"it's all about summer, the harbour, the amazing view,
the sexy venue, and being right in the middle of the ac-
tion without having to deal with the riff raff. Sydney
Harbour is where it all began, it's what Australia Day
is all about, and the amount of activity on the harbour
that day, fireworks as night falls, and of course our actual
party line-up will make it something truly unique. It's a
limited capacity of 300 so it will be an intimate crowd
and totally exclusive to our punters."
As for the line-up, Schembri believes it's "perfect".
"We're really mixing it up a bit for this one, with some
boys on the line up as well, we want the boys to feel
welcome and come along with their bitches for the day,
ha! It's Martinis + Bikinis, Boardies + Beers, we en-
courage the summer beach vibe - as we have a full mar-
tini bar set up, cocktail masters at work, and of course
your standard bar - and what kind of Australia Day would it be without the
good old BBQ on the outdoor deck. This venue is amazing, it's part of the
Overseas Passenger Terminal, literally smack bang on the harbour between
the Bridge and the Opera House right next to the MCA. Where else would
