BUGGIRL, THE AUSTRALIAN BLUESY
COCK ROCK DUO CONSISTING

What was your favorite venue to play in
on the Infestation tour?
Wild at Heart – Berlin!
Wild at Heart was trashy, sexy and rock
and roll. The place was run by these hot
arsed, hard core German muthafuckers:
they treated us like gods of rock and
showered us with their finest liquor and
German hospitality. Fucking hot!
I’ve heard that at one venue in the
Netherlands they kept you playing all
night and you had to flee to the train
station to “escape”. Can you confirm or
Yeah. Those guys were crazy! Wild and
woolly metal warriors! I loved ‘em! They
couldn’t get enough of us either. But the
last train from Tilburg to Amsterdam was
at 2am. At 1.45am they were still making
us play encores. We had to piss bolt for the
train (and I don’t run for anything), guitar
in one hand, three beers in the other. Just
made it! Take a seat, crack open a beer...
Sweet as, mate! Often small towns are
the ones which rock the hardest. Tilburg
definitely rocks harder than most.
You also hit New York City, playing
infamous club CBGB’s, where even the
hard hearted and jaded techs were blown
away. What was that like for you?
It was a dream come true. I can happily
Did NYC live up to your expectations?
Will you be back?
Oh my god! I love NYC. NYC totally
exceeded all my expectations. I am so
I know while you were in NYC you met
Chrissy Amphlett. Now what was that
I shat myself. It was our first day in
NYC. We’d just arrived in the US that
morning so we were racing around like
deranged tourists, checking out the sights,
sweatin’ our tits off in the summer heat.
We hadn’t showered since London, stank
like a monkey’s skanky arsehole. By the
time I was sitting next to Chrissy, in this
swanky restaurant, I felt as glamorous and
impressive as a rotting kebab in the desert.
I was so nervous – so much for sweeping
her off her feet and living happily ever
after, ha-ha. She’s awesome!
Has her music and/or stage persona had
any effect on you as a performer?
She is undeniably an Australian rock
and roll legend. In all honesty, I must
say I have always been deeply moved
by Chrissy’s spitting technique – ‘tis an
art that I endeavor to perfect. Seriously
though, Chrissy’s a bloody legend and
we’ve all been influenced in one way or
What is on the horizon for BugGirl?
Horizon for BugGirl? I don’t know
– maybe find me a sugar mama who could
fund a few more tours, records and parties.
Maybe become a self-absorbed, filthy
rich, drug affected, rock ‘n’ roll, slutbag
celebrity and die before my 28th birthday.
How will the tour affect your future
It has definitely highlighted how important
it is to be individual and be true to myself –
in both songwriting and performing. There
is a lot of generic shit in this world and in
a way I’m glad to be home, where the rock
is real, raw and alive. Oh, and where the
grass is green and the girls are pretty.
