Home' LOTL : August 2005 Contents Your Say
Lesbians: when a straight gal cracks onto
you, just say no. Even if she begs and
pleads and promises to blow your mind
beneath the sheets. Why? Because I am a
straight girl who has, many times, and
always after a few too many drinks, think I
fancy a roll in the hay with a gorgeous gay
girl. They make a welcome change from
men (there's no pash rash and orgasm is
guaranteed). But I have a confession to
make. Your worst fears are true; we are just
tourists, and like all tourists we have only a
fleeting interest in the attractive scenery we
will never call home. So don't get attached
to us. We're just passing through.

'L' IS FOR LONGING
Hooray, hooray! An article on The L Word
['Leisha with an L', July]! It was a pleasure
to read, and I liked the fresh, informative
chatting of Leisha Hailey. But it made me
realise I am having serious withdrawals
from not seeing this show. Can we do
something to make Channel 7 air season
two some time this year??? I'M
DESPERATE!!! Bec, Northcote VIC.

Last week, 17 year old, queerplanet team
member, Ben from Kenosha, Wisconsin
and 16 year old Ben from Boise, Idaho
wrote letters to Margaret Cho about Zach
[after coming out, Zach's parents deported
him to a Christian fundamentalist camp
operated by right wing Love In Action].
(W)e got an email from her saying "Go get
'em". Who says we can't move mountains!
Here's her letter to Zach:
"Jesus did have a nelly side to him as well,
which I am sure the Love in Action folks
would love to forget. He was always
hanging out with those twelve guys and
one fag hag, he always wore a dress and he
always made sure he had enough food
when he was entertaining. Jesus was
probably a big fag. They say that Jesus
experienced every human emotion, so I am
sure he felt really bitchy, really butch --
maybe even like a really big bottom. Jesus
doesn't have a problem with
homosexuality. It is just that some of the
people who claim to represent him do.
I grew up in the church. My grandfather
was a Methodist minister and we had
church right in our living room 7 days a
week, so I understand a little about where
you might be coming from." To read the

FEEL LIKE MOUTHING OFF?
STRAIGHT IS GREAT
Thanks for your story on encounters with
straight girls ['Queer Eye For the Straight
Girl', July]. I have had my heart broken
again and again by straight and bi-curious
women -- until recently. My current lover is
a girly straight girl. After an amazing
encounter (which she initiated!) she just
ran. Then she came back, finally over her
preoccupation with penises and a
culturally conditioned approach to sex.
More to the point, she'd worked through
why she had been attracted to me in the
first place: partly because I was a girl,
mostly because I was me -- but essentially,
because we just happened to click. It took
a while for my friends to adjust -- they kept
asking how we identified and if I was afraid
she'd leave me for a guy. Hey, we're just
two girls who at this moment in time are
more into each other than we are into
anyone else. We're happy. So lesbians
who like straight girls, and the straight girls
who like them, get over yourselves and
explore the attraction.
