Glass dildos have possibly been around since glass was first blown.
According to www.glbtq.com, during the fourteenth century, writers such as
Boccaccio described women using them either alone or with each other,
and in 1534 Aretino's story of an orgy set in a nunnery depicted novices
using glass dildoes. A decade or so earlier, an Italian engraving pictured a
standing nymph calmly penetrating herself with one.
Glass dildoes are now going through a renaissance. Hot or cold, fast or
gentle, a glass dildo can be guaranteed to be highly sensational.
Glass has some fantastic properties
and apart from being inflexible, glass
dildos have similar properties to high
quality silicone toys in terms of
Like silicone, glass is non-porous and
therefore does not absorb any body fluids.
Glass dildos are shatterproof and will not break whilst being used internally. If
you drop one on concrete however, it probably will.
The glass can be cooled on ice or heated in hot water,
easily cleaned, and yes, for you CSI fans, they
are dishwasher safe, as are good quality
silicone toys. This makes them suitable for
vaginal and anal play.
The medium of glass is extremely rigid,
which means that as the vaginal and/or
sphincter muscles move over the glass
surface you can feel a lot. We recommend
using a good water based lubricant with your
glass toy, and you can also use oil based lubes
such as the certified organic Nude, as the glass will
not absorb the lubricant.
You will have to be more careful when using glass toys as their lack of
flexibility means that vigorous play could cause some bruising. If you want
some more vigorous action in either orifice have a D.VICE silicone dildo or
butt plug on hand as these are flexible and safe to use.
Additionally, for those of you who wish to get to know your lover literally from
the inside out, take a fairly straight glass dildo and insert it wherever you
both please. Shine a torch at the base of the dildo and look down through
the length of the dildo for a truly illuminating experience.
These glass toys come in G-Spot and fairly straight shapes and are usually
in the $250-$700 range. D.VICE has three styles on offer priced between
$90 and $110.
